A Meeting is Held Regarding the Establishment of New Public Free Zones in Egypt

The Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, held a meeting regarding the establishment of new public free zones in new cities, with areas of about 150 acres in cities such as New Al Obour City, New October City, New Alamein, and some Upper Egypt Cities, and others, provided that there shall be a partnership between the New Urban Communities Authority and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, whether in terms of commitments or division of revenues.

Within the framework of Egypt’s support for investment and its keenness to attract new foreign direct investments, especially in the industrial sector, this meeting regarding the establishment of new public free zones aims to attract industrial investments to enhance production for export, deepen national industry, and quickly provide ready industrial land, especially for industrial projects that export their products abroad.

During this meeting regarding the establishment of new public free zones, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities presented the inventory position that had been prepared for the 11 sites chosen for establishing free industrial zones, explaining the planning and construction requirements and the status of providing facilities for each site.

  • A 140-acre plot of land in the east of 10th of Ramadan City.
  • A 115-acre plot of land in the southern area of ​​New Alamein City.

  • A 150-acre plot of land at the Technology Valley area in New Burj Al Arab City.
  • A 150-acre plot of land in the industrial zone west of New October City.
  • A 150-acre plot of land in New Obour City’s Industrial Zone.
  • A 150-acre plot of land at the southern expansions of New Sohag City’s Industrial Zone.
  • A 132-acre plot of land at the 9th Industrial District in New Beni Suef City.
  • A 150-acre plot of land in the 2nd industrial zone, along New Aswan City.
  • A 149-acre plot of land in the New Taiba City’s Industrial Zone.
  • A 150-acre plot of land in Hadayek Al-Asimah’s Industrial Zone.

Statements Made During this Meeting

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt’s Prime Minister, directed GAFI to quickly inspect these proposed lands regarding establishing the new public free zones and work to attract foreign companies and large-capital investments, provided that this is done following standards that achieve our goals.

Mr. Hossam Heiba, CEO of the GAFI, explained the importance of establishing new public free zones in attracting foreign investments to enhance exports and stressed that land inspection will begin immediately since there are some applications submitted to obtain the lands.

He also presented the activities targeted by these applications, including the industry of electrical braids, plastics, clothing and textiles, electric vehicles, digital service activities, boards, petroleum services, prosthetic devices, lifting pumps and spare parts storage, and others, confirming that there would be an agreement to sign a cooperation protocol between GAFI and the New Urban Communities Authority in this regard.

Dr. Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, stated that the Ministry is ready to begin implementing this assignment, according to the partnership system that is agreed upon with the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones.
