A New Phase of Cooperation between Egypt and Bahrain 2023 To Strengthen the Development Partnership

The First Meeting of the Bahraini-Egyptian Governmental Committee

The first meeting of the Bahraini-Egyptian Governmental Committee was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance in the New Administrative Capital, headed by the Egyptian Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Maait, and the Minister of Finance and National Economy of the Kingdom of Bahrain, HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa for trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation.

What is the Purpose of this Meeting?

This meeting, which brings together Egypt and Bahrain, aims to launch a new phase of developing bilateral relations to deepen the development partnership between the two fraternal countries.

It is worth noting that this meeting came under the patronage and attention of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the continued follow-up by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and H.E. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt.

Enhancing the Cooperation between Egypt and Bahrain

At the end of the Bahraini-Egyptian Governmental Committee meeting, some ministries, public bodies, and companies in Egypt and Bahrain agreed to sign 15 cooperation initiatives and 13 MOUS. The two countries also agreed to combine joint efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation and increase trade exchange opportunities through:

  • Strengthening mutual cooperation between business communities.
  • Enhancing the movement of investment and intra-trade.
  • Exchanging visits by trade delegations and participating in trade fairs and information forums.
  • Establishing a new Egyptian commercial center in Bahrain.
  • Completing the necessary procedures to sign the mutual recognition agreement for the approved economic operator program between the Customs Affairs of the Ministry of Interior in the Bahrain and the Egyptian Customs Authority.
  • Understanding the areas of protecting competition and preventing monopolistic practices.
  • Integrating industrial partnership to achieve sustainable economic development and regional and Arab integration.
  • Enhancing investment cooperation and deepening aspects of cooperation in various fields.
  • Offering investment opportunities in industrial fields to private sector companies in the two countries.

Egyptian and Bahraini Ministers’ Speech

Dr. Mohammed Maait, The Egyptian Minister of Finance, expressed his welcome to the Minister of Finance and National Economy of Bahrain and his accompanying delegation, stressing his aspiration for the success of the first meeting of the Bahraini-Egyptian government committee in achieving its goals in a way that enhances the process of bilateral cooperation at the commercial, economic, scientific, and technological levels to meet the development needs of the two countries’ people.

On the other hand, the Bahraini Minister of Finance and National Economy stressed the depth of the established fraternal relations that bring together Bahrain and Egypt, which are based on solid foundations of cooperation and joint work in various fields, pointing out the Kingdom’s keenness to push bilateral relations towards broader horizons in order to achieve the interests of the Kingdom and common goals.
